The 2021/22 PGA golf season is just coming to its conclusion but plans are already in place for the next campaign. As always, the highlights will be the four Major tournaments, starting with the US Masters in April.
Recent changes to the scheduling mean that the four major events are packed into a tight four-week window. Following on from the Masters, the PGA Championship, the US Open and the Open Championship will be played in May, June and July respectively.
There is always great anticipation for the big tournaments and here are all the dates you need to know.
US Masters
The 2023 edition of the US Masters will tee off on Thursday April 6th with the final round taking place four days later on April 9th. The Masters is the only one of the four Majors that has a permanent venue. In this case, the Augusta National in Georgia will resume hosting duties.
Scottie Scheffler will go into the competition as the defending champion and he is likely to start among the favorites for glory next year. According to early Masters betting markets, Scheffler is one of three joint favorites along with Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy.

PGA Championship
The 2023 PGA Championship will take place on the East Course at the Oak Hill Golf Club in Rochester, New York. Next year’s tournament will run from May 18th, through to May 21st.
The last time that this venue hosted this event was back in 2013 when Jason Duffner secured victory by two strokes from Jim Furyk. This is a testing par 70 course with some good length which could suit the power hitters in places.
US Open
England’s Matthew Fitzpatrick will be aiming to defend his US Open title when he lines up with the rest of the field at the Los Angeles Country Club. The dates for the 2023 edition of this tournament are June 15th through to June 18th.
The venue will be unfamiliar to most of the field and this promises to be a thrilling event on unknown territory.
Open Championship
The Open Championship is the only one of the four Majors to take place outside of the United States. This was the first of the four big events to appear on the schedules and the Open continues to be hosted in the UK.
This is another event where locations rotate and the 2023 edition will be held at the Royal Liverpool course in Hoylake. The tournament gets underway on July 20th with the final round taking place on July 23rd.
The last time the Open was held at this venue in 2014, Rory McIlroy emerged as the champion and he will be hopeful of a follow up victory.
Whoever comes through to win the famous Claret Jug, they will have thoroughly earned the right to be called the Champion Golfer of 2023. Victory will bring the curtain down on another campaign of Majors, but there are lots to look forward to as the new season approaches.
